Winchester Model 94 serial number 1887517 is a very early 1952 vintage Carbine. The value can not be determined without a visual inspection & evaluation. 9 rows 1955 -- Model 88 was introduced by Winchester in 308 Caliber serial number 4 was the first gun produced. The 308 was the longest running caliber with the last ones produced in 1973. 1956-- Caliber's 243 Winchester and 358 were added to the Model 88 line. The 243 was produced through 1973.
And even if it is, does this matter? Factories tend to use older parts in inventory until they are used up, so unless the change to a newer design part (style of stock, checkering, etc) is enough that they cannot be used on the new model(s), they will continue to be used until there are no more.
Your stock could have been done in (for example) 63 and sitting in the parts rack until mated to a 1964 produced reciever. One fairly famous example of this kind of thing are the 'transitional' S&W revolvers. When S&W decided to stop pinning the barrels to the frame and stop recessing the cylinder chambers, they did continue to produce new guns using the older version parts until they were used up. So, you can find S&W revolvers with pinned barrels but without recessed chambers, and recessed chamber guns without pinned barrels. Eventually all their guns lacked these features as the older stock of parts had been used up and only new parts were available. many other gun companies have done similar things over the years.
If the stock on your rifle doesn't seem to match the specs for the production year (based on ser#) it could have come from the factory that way. Or it could have been a replacement stock (of an older pattern) that was put on the rifle by a previous owner. The only way to know for absolute certain is to know the rifles life history, or have access to the factory records indicating exactly how the rifle was configured when it went out the factory door (if such records exist). Considering the state of Winchester currently, I doubt you would be able to get this info from them. Unless you are a collector researching for complete originality, it is nice to know, but does it really matter?
